Application for Programs Manager in ALIN
Arid Lands Information Network (ALIN), an International NGO facilitating information and knowledge exchange between informediaries in the arid lands of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania wishes to recruit a to recruit a dynamic, energetic and committed person to join its team as Programs Manager based in Gulu, Uganda.
Under the supervision of the Regional Director, the Programs Manager will be responsible for systems development, program, the coordination of a project focusing on development of ALIN's Maarifa (Knowledge) centres in and building the capacity communities to create and share knowledge using Information and Communication Technologies.
Key duties and responsibilities
The incumbent will be part of a regional management team. Under the direct supervision of the Regional Director and working closely with key partners, the job holder will perform the following duties;
- Develop systems for the country office in close liaison with the headquarters
- Manage the organization's programs ensuring timely and effective implementation and reporting
- Implement and manage program activities according to the project document and work plan developed.
- Develop appropriate strategies and approaches for the implementation of funded project activities to realize the desired project outputs, outcomes and impact.
- Monitor and review the project implementation processes to ensure that targets are being achieved according to the work plan.
- Prepare and complete quarterly and annual progress reports and submit them to donors and the Regional Director on time.
- Support in fundraising for the organization by developing successful concept papers and proposal
Desired Qualification, skills and experience
- A Post Graduate degree with at least 3 years experience in Social Sciences or Communications.
- Minimum 3 years continuous experience working in a management position in an NGO setting.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in report writing, strategic planning and proposal development.
- Knowledge in information, knowledge management and project management will be an added advantage.
- Mature, responsible and a person of high integrity
- Prepared to travel extensively to programme sites within and outside the country.
- Good knowledge of MS Office
- Knowledge of a local languages of northern Uganda is desirable
