Vacancy Description Job description and required qualifications About GGP Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) is a scheme managed by the Embassy of Japan in Uganda, which extends supports to initiatives of needy communities at the grassroots levels. The GGP section wishes to recruit a competent staff member for the position of a grant consultant.
Key roles and responsibilities Respond to general enquiries about the GGP Scheme. Screen GGP applications and further examine short listed applications. Gather additional information through direct communication with applicants. Conduct site visits if and when necessary. Draft letters to be sent to applicants, organize the letters to be sent. Draft speeches and press releases on GGP matters Update and manage GGP database. File and manage GGP documents. Submit reports on GGP operations as required.
Qualifications, experiences and competences Degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Development Studies or other related field. A minimum of 2 years solid working experience with administration and/or development projects at the grassroots level in Uganda. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access Excellent writing and oral communication skills in English. Very good analytical, organizational and reporting skills. Ability to work in a team and under tight deadlines. Willingness to work with and/or assist vulnerable people. Interest in Japanese development assistance policy. Preferably aged between 28-35 years old
Duration From April 2012 to end of March 2013 (initially 1year, with possibility of renewal for another 1year, not exceeding 2 years in total)
Remuneration Determined based on Embassy guidelines and the applicant’s qualification and experience. The remuneration is based on the consultancy contract; therefore it does not cover insurance, tax, transportation or any other allowances. Closing date for the applications 23rd January 2012: Application submitted after 17:15 (5:15pm) of the closing date will not be considered.
